For this bike, speed is a problem. 14mph is not a useful speed. I can almost walk that. On my bike, I tend to maintain a speed of 30 km/hr.
If they can come out with a version that does 32km/hr, for a reasonable price, it could be worth looking at.
Maybe you are confusing mph and kph as Olympic Race Walkers average about 8 mph (13 kph)I doubt you are close to 14 mph.
I can walk pretty fast. It’s probably more of a light jog to me, but my point is that 14mph is not worth the money to buy.
Some of us have legs that don’t work as well as they used to. It’s more about mobility than it is exercise.
CC
Time. I use my bike to get to work.
I work 12 hour days. If I rode a manual bike, it would take me 50 minutes to get to work. With my ebike, I can get to work in about 25 minutes. It takes about 18 minute to go by car.
There is still an element of exercise to it. It’s not totally labour free.
Ping.
nb: I've worked with hydrogen in an industrial setting. I know whereof I speak.
If it becomes somewhat popular then the left will figure out why it should be banned.
“14mph is not a useful speed. I can almost walk that. “
The world record over distance is less than 9 mph. 5 mph is a very brisk pace.
“For this bike, speed is a problem. 14mph is not a useful speed.”
I have an e-bike. 12 mph is a nice pace for touring on good trails.
“A bicycle is powered by your legs, not a motor
What is the use if you can’t exercise? ⁸”
It is torque-assist. You still have to apply a force.
Notice that no $$$$$$$ are given in the article. Cute except in twelve inches of snow, or pouring downpour, or taking out wife and kids, or grocery shopping.
Jonty’s not walking at a 4 minute mile pace?
Thanks for clearing that up.
The good thing is that he cleared up his intent and was in no way shape or form claiming to be an Olympic athlete.
When I used to road bike more, 12 mph was about my minimum. I wasn’t a great cyclist but I’ve averaged 18 mph for 100 miles a couple times. 22-24 was my general flat ground speed.
12-14 is pretty slow
I tow about 70’lbs as well in a trailer.
I tried to load my body and bike with that and it was just to heavy to carry on me.
“Oh, great! Wait until one of those springs a leak in somebody’s apartment!

You may have worked with hydrogen but I challenge you to show numbers to support your post.
I can just see it now:
* Wife parks her battery e-bike in the garage.
* Husband parks his H2 bike in the garage next to hers.
* e-bike battery fails and erupts in flame.
* H2 bike goes BOOM!!!!

Grow up. It is a bike, not a car.
Oh, great! Wait until one of those springs a leak in somebody’s apartment!
= = =
And if it is sitting near a lithium charging e-bike . . .
A little heat here, a little spark there, a little leak over there -—
These things should have a AI direct connection to the fire department.
One little glitch, and call the FD.
