Hilarious and absolutely meaningless.
Since the Hamas pogrom, Israel has repeatedly agreed to a bad deal because its leaders have not learned from the past and because the public things a few hostages are worth more than long term safety of wiping out Hamas.
EVERY TIME the deal has been rejected by Hamas. No counter offer just rejection.
The only way to bring Hamas to the table is to execute Sinwar and probably the team in Qatar. Then maybe new leaders will see the light (as was the case in Nazi Germany and Japan). Or maybe not.
They did make one counter offer by unilaterally changing the terms of one cease fire proposal in such a way that they “accepted it,” but Israel rightly rejected it. Instead of the first batch of hostages released being living ones, they changed it to some living ones, some dead, and instead of being released immediately, released by and by, and they wanted an immediate, permanent cease fire and immediate release of all Hamas prisoners, and a bajillion tons of humanitarian aid and a pony for Sinwar’s birthday.
Israel told them to go to hell.
