Couldn’t agree more - unrestrained freedom is a jungle. We have too much freedom to do stupid and harmful things and not enough personal consequences for doing stupid and harmful thungs.
Singapore may be a bit strict, but we are way, way too lose.
The difference is whether it is just the wealthy being free or everyone.
Singapore has plenty of rec drugs for the wealthy although they’re strictly banned as one of many examples.
The idea that these authoritarian nations that don’t contribute jack to the advancement of mankind are superior is hate America leftist garbage.
We’re too loose as meme makers and pride flag burners get hard time.
The avg American citizen unwittingly commits on avg three felonies a day and we have insane incarceration rates for non-violent criminals-greater than the authoritarian nations and somehow it’s too loose.
I get it though, no matter how egregious the govt has been curtailing freedom, licking boot tastes good.
Loose=
70-85% voluntary mask compliance when the expectation was 25-35%.
We live in a nation of conformist, compliant sheep while individual creativity, imagination and innovation + capital is what created American exceptionalism.
Yet I read over and over and over again desire for even greater conformity and even greater loss of liberty.
Freedom isn’t the problem. Lack of personal accountability is.
