Great story. Polish Eastern Orthodox. Said Poles having been abused for centuries (in WWII by both German National Socialist who hated the descent of Poles from aristocratic proto-Prussian medieval origins, and by the Soviet “Russians” who were definitely NOT the Russian equivalent, that is not being White Russians as they were later called and annihilated by the Soviets). Poland caught between- and a brilliant people (mathematics, the Enigma code machine solutions, the entire officer class, 10K, murdered by Stalin, and “found out” by the Nazis for propaganda).
Doubly amusing to hear Russians called “white” in that same brush— when they are frankly Asians. Near East but Asians nonetheless. White Russians as said- wiped out of existence with the Romanovs.
Not a lot of Eastern Orthodox Poles. Must have had some Russian or Ukrainian in the family.
