IMHO, we need to start enforcing existing gun laws before passing any new ones.
Every time someone commits a violent crime with a gun then the feds need to pull their ATF Form 4473 from when they purchased the gun (assuming they didn’t steal it). If they lied on the form then prosecute them for it. If someone has a felony criminal record and lies on their application form we should be able to flag them immediately and prosecute them. If a drug addict like Hunter Biden lies on his application form and is later caught in possession of illegal drugs then prosecute him.
The Sutherland Springs Church shooter lied about not having any violent criminal convictions when he bought several guns. If they had flagged and prosecuted him then he never would have been able to shoot almost 50 people.
I agree, but look at what you stated: the church shooter lied about past violent criminal convictions. Hunter had no criminal convictions, much less violent criminal convictions. Also, the 9th Circuit ruled that non-violent criminal felons have a right to possess a gun. So I always think about Barry Seal. That judge put him in community service, knowing he was a target for the cartel, no bodyguard protection, no personal protection (like a gun) and Barry was killed (I believe) three weeks into his probation. To me, it borders on thought crime.
