1. It was never near as popular in continental Europe as in the US.

Most government medical establishments were leery of a bizarre American fad. It would be a cost to the goverment after all. Sometimes the “deep state” is a good thing.

2. The backlash began in Britain, and it came out of the medical establishment itself, in a comprehensive report to the NHS.

3. Medical liability is not such an issue in Europe, especially as the liable party is almost always a government or other public agency. That I think is also a major factor in limiting medical costs btw.
