"If done properly and with severity, trade interdiction and economic warfare will collapse China's economy into a severe depression, with mass unemployment and potential starvation. "

-----------------------------------

When you look at the results of Millenium Challenge 2002, what does it say about the survival of the US surface fleet, when China has infinitely more capacity than 2002 Iran ?

All you have to do is look at the missile coverage from this map, and the problem for surface ships becomes clear. What is the plan if a supposed blockade cannot be maintained ?

Fact is, the US is no longer capable of exerting this sort of power. And it is time to put aside the delusions and start making decision based on some sort of connection and attachment to reality.

The US's best strategy is to impose economic sanctions and an embargo on China while avoiding sustained naval engagements in the Chinese littoral. Due to corruption and defects in training and leadership, the Chinese Navy is not capable of major deep water operations. That makes it possible for the US to interdict vessels carrying trade to and from China just about anywhere in the world.

Meanwhile, in the Chinese littoral, US submarines and airpower could make life difficult and costly for China's naval vessels and trade. And China's endemic corruption has sapped the vitality of their military. Taking Taiwan would be difficult, and China could not sustain air and naval superiority there due to a lack of spare parts and trained personnel.

Bits and pieces of these issues appear in the Chinese press and on social media, often as explanations why additional preparation is needed by China before they try to grab Taiwan. These preparations are said to include stockpiling essential imported raw materials, greater patriotism and discipline, and further development of Chinese military power.
