In this election I am not sure it matters that much who Trump picks as VP. This election is all about Trump.

JDV would be an ENORMOUS mistake. That would doom Trump to CERTAIN defeat.
JDV brings NOTHING to the ticket, and would likely DETRACT votes from Trump.
His ideology and his ability to govern as VP means NOTHING if Trump loses in November.
For Trump to win, he needs votes from the middle. JDV just doesn’t do that.
I’m sure you are a good person and mean well, but you sound like the Freepers in 2020 who wanted “Jefferson Beauregard Sessions” for VP/AG, because to them it sounded cool to say that.
That said, Sarah Sanders or Byron Donalds are my current faves.
Glenn Youngkin would be an interesting sleeper pick and possibly help to deliver VA in 2024.

........I’m not in favor of a woman for President because Trump has proven one thing and that is that it doesn’t take just a man to withstand the communist onslaught it takes a REAL MAN of which, when it comes to National Politics, Trump is the ONLY proven REAL MAN we have. All the rest are sopranos.
But, that said, I don’t always get my way so if it has to be a woman I agree with your “likeable and smart conservative woman” description so I would suggest Harriet Hageman (R-Wyoming). She MAY be America’s answer to Margaret Thatcher.
Rubio is NOT the guy to pick up the torch AFTER Trump, Rubio is a HUGE RINO!!!
