>>>>Churchill had to wait until WWII ended before an election could take place in the UK.<<<<

Britain did hold elections during WWII.

On July 5, 1945 they held an election that resulted in Clement Attlee being elected Prime Minister, replacing Churchill.

There were also numerous elections to fill in empty seats in parliament during the war.

The war in Europe was ended two months earlier, May 8th, which is what mattered to Britons. The war in the Pacific, which was 99% an American war, had just five weeks to go.

And you do know that in the UK the Prime Minister is not elected directly, don't you?

Because Labour actually was the one party that talked about what they would do Post-War. The Tories sat on their butts, and said, “We’ve got Churchill!”
