Mustang? My husband (we) had a flight operation at John Wayne Airport in OC and loved the sound of that plane. Everyone ran out of the hangars when they heard one coming in or leaving. My husband said he could have bought one cheap when he was in the AF at McClellan AFB in the last ‘50’s and kicked himself for not doing it....

He used to fly it with the USAF heritage flights at airshows. I think he retired from that but not from sport flying his P-51. He was my boss of bosses when I worked at Convair.:

Just read that it was his T-34A that went in.

I was so inspired by that Apollo 8 Christmas Eve broadcast that it started my career in aerospace via the USAF.

He was the CEO of General Dynamics when I was working at Convair many years ago.

He has now returned to the heavens.
