You won't believe this, folks, but California's new $20 minimum wage for fast-food workers has caused fast-food restaurants in that state to cut nearly 10,000 jobs.

Unless you’re a Democrat politician or typical democrat voter
“That’s not what’s supposed to happen “ 🤦🤦♀️🤦♂️🙈
Unfortunately, those people will move to CO, Az or TX and demand $20/h pay again.
People, who like Ca communism should stay there and not spread that poison out of state.
$20 an hour for 40 hours a week = $41,600 a year.
This could be as much as $1,600 state taxes per employee.
10,000 laid off employees could be as much as $16,000,000 in lost state tax revenue.
LOL, of course many of them, even then, won’t make the connection - they will blame Republicans, Trump, stingy customers and greedy CEOs. That is what they’ve been told repeatedly.
Also note that this creature modified the $20 law to exclude Panera breads. ‘Cause they contribute to his campaign.
The purpose of the min wage laws is the same as the lockdowns — to kill off small businesses, ‘cause they are almost exclusively run by non-commie trash. CT’s are incapable of assessing risks and budgeting — not in their DNA. So, most of their businesses fail unless subsidized — or connected to corrupt politicos — see above.
Oh no,
Unfortunately they move out, but will keep voting Democrats and turning the neighboring states blue.
I know!
Colorado is for all practical purposes a new California, so is Oregon.
Nevada and Arizona have big problem with refugees from CA too!
And it looks like Idaho and Montana are getting there too?!
Why don’t they just stay in CA and collect their generous welfare benefits?
Yes, the order and pay is by the self serve kiosks, the hamburgers can be done by machine. Machine can serve the food too.
Drive through orders can be outsourced to India or Philippines.
Somebody may need to keep the place clean and manage the technology? Maybe?
But, I could envision McDonalds without any workers at all.
Or, they can all bake their bread on premises to qualify for the exception.
Other day I took the old highway because the interstate was backed up. (Central Jersey)
Could not believe all the large office complexes, strip mall stores, etc. with “For Lease” or “For Sale” signs or just plain deserted.
Bills introduced to raise it to $25,
Ditto. A once-famous and consistently-packed shopping mall on my side of town is on the verge of closing. Nearly all the satellite businesses are already boarded up. Knowing what the area once was is just surreal.
since texas manned up, SD is the new highest port of entry for illegals.
Sadly, it is happening everywhere in the country. Except for a few stores that converted some space for Amazon use, so people who shop online via Amazon can return goods via an Amazon store outlet. Went to a local Kohl's department store and saw that a large portion was converted to Amazon use.
Last Saturday was a line in front of the local Staples store - waiting for it to open.
Not to buy anything, all just returning Amazon packages.
And where to the laid off workers go to get another job? These people don’t have skills, that’s why they are in fast food. And it would help them get skills and have a resume for the next job. Now they have lost all that opportunity.
The jobs were cut not because of the minimum wage. Most CA unskilled were making close to $20/hr anyway. The official hike was a small increase, maybe 10%.
Rising wages are a LAGGING indicator in an inflationary spiral. Usually signalling that we are near the end of the up cycle. Now prices will flatten and wages will slowly catch up.
This is why Repblicans will never be the working class party. Every facet of doing business is up but the lowly fry cook gets the blame for $10 happy meals. You know what? The Republicans in the “managerial class” need to start their own party.
LOL. The min wages did not, is not, killing off small business. So if labor was free then a McD happy meal would only cost .50?
