The last time we had a Dim prez who served in the military was Carter. Since then there have been 20 years (5 terms) of Republican prez’s who served in the military. (Reagan served in the Army Reserve, and I believe the Bushes’ military service is already known.)
Bonafide draft dodger Bill Clinton beat decorated veterans Bush and Dole, and I don’t recall either of them whining about it. Joey Five Deferments has no such standing at all.
Reagan had 9 years total of Reserve and active, five years in a reserve cavalry unit he joined in 1937.
President Reagan enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1937, was commissioned a 2d Lieutenant of Cavalry the same year. He was called to active duty in April, 1942, and was later assigned the the 1st Motion Picture Unit in Hollywood that made training films for all branches of the U.S. military during the war. He was discharged in Dec, 1945
