Judge Merchan may need to rethink his obvious desire to imprison Trump: Democrats are facing a situation in which all options are bad...for them

Judge Merchan seems to have no alternative but to sentence Trump to jail, given the obvious fact that Merchan and his rabid constituents are inflamed by the enormity of Trump’s conviction on thirty-four felony counts. However, there are problems that place the judge between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Here are some possible issues:

What if the Republican convention is moved forward to, say, July 4th to be convened at Mar-A-Lago? Trump would be chosen as the Republican nominee for President. Then, Merchan would be sentencing the Republican nominee for President. That’s an escalation that might cause the judge to pause about his options.

Where does a prison sentence leave Merchan when it comes to the armed Secret Service? Does he say that Trump must give up Secret Service protection in prison? No, because he lacks the power to do this. Therefore, by sending Trump to prison, he effectively sentences his Secret Service agents to prison as well. This would create a constitutional crisis that SCOTUS would have to settle.

Normally, once someone is convicted of a felony in New York City, that person is immediately placed in the custody of NYC law enforcement and sent to Rikers Island Prison. Rikers Island, as Law & Order TV fans well know, is a hell-hole. Is it unlikely that the Secret Service would allow this for its agents? There’s another constitutional crisis.

What if Merchan sentences Trump to house arrest. Which house? Trump is a resident of Florida. The idea of house arrest, of course, would be to restrain Trump from campaigning. This would look like trying to unfairly influence the election. Not a good idea.

Probation is a possibility, but that seems much too light to fly with those who have Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).

They have an irrational fear of Trump that leads them to obsessive hatred. TDS is rampant throughout the Democrat party and includes some RINOs as well. Certainly, Merchan, as an operative of the Democrat party, has TDS. Benny Thompson, a congressman from Mississippi, has raving TDS as attested by his introducing a bill in the House that would remove Trump’s Secret Service while in prison, an invitation to assassination.

I’ve heard that, this so called felony is the least serious felony under NY law. And that others similarly convicted have often not had prison sentences. As Trump is a first time offender, someone such as him often escapes jail or prison time.

But we will see. Because it’s Trump, this judge may feel compelled to send him to prison, to make Rachel Maddow and Joy Behar happy

They double down-they’re leftists. Why would anyone suggest they’ll see the light? So Biden’s gonna tighten the border. Do you really think so? It’s like the SCOTUS ruling on the student loans.

Their Trump Derangement Syndrome had Democrats so blinded with hatred that the idea that this could turn out to be a Pyrrhic victory was never even considered.

The consequences of this foreign SOB’s criminal “court” decisions should be as horrific as possible.

The little Spaniard clown is toying with the fate of the world, and the world knows it.

He should understand in a visceral way that any of his options are going to result in a world inflamed, and he ain’t gonna escape blame.

Such are the consequences of playing with fire.

I’m betting, the judge will set the maximum for all 34 counts, 5-10 and immediately taken to jail at Rikers on July 11.

Trump will go to jail. First, because they have to demonstrate they can do this and want to. Second, because if they are pressured to not do this they will to show they will not be intimidated.

They are running this out for many reasons, all calculated for maximum impact without provoking us to actual outrage and action. They are like cats playing with a bird to torture it but not kill it lest the fun be over too quickly. Just when our pot is about to boil they turn the heat down and let it rest so it does not boil over.

“They have an irrational fear of Trump that leads them to obsessive hatred. “

Which is why Trump will be jailed. The left would be beyond ecstatic.

I agree. They have gone this far. Why would they stop at a jail sentence? If Trump spends even one day in jail, he will just become even more popular.

Irrational fear and irrational hatred are all too common these days. Makes me wonder if it’s the fluoride in the water.

If Trump is sent to jail where he promptly commits suicide, that will solve much of the left’s problems, details be damned.

The fear is not irrational. Trump is an existential threat to the globalists, Deep State, the Uniparty, and the military-industrial complex. Their power and influence is at stake.

Rethink it?

I believe Merchan would have had to “think” it before he is able to “rethink” it . . .

A lot of Freepers really don’t get guys like this.

This is not, for them, about winning in November. They do not and have not believed that Trump has any chance of re-election. This is an act of what substitutes for religious faith for atheist and irreligious leftists: self-evidently, Trump is bad and must be punished.

He’s going to sentence Trump to 5-7 years, 2 in the can, the balance suspended, with house arrest pending appeal. He’s not going to say anything about Secret Service or other protective provisions in prison - that’s an administrative matter between the Secret Service and the DOC.

Merchan is one of those “useful idiots” the left deploys to do their dirty work. He has, is, and will continue to do exactly as he is instructed. I’m sure he has been promised much in reward with little, if any, consequences for his actions. If things turn negative for the instigators he will suffer the consequences, and if he should talk he and his family will not fare well.
