The problem we have now is both sides accuse the other of these things. To the Democrats, we are the communists because we don't get excited about defeating Russia. We are anti-family because we don't support gay rights. We want to take rights away because of abortion.
There are completely different frames of reference that the 2 parties now have. It did not use to be this way. It is rather sad.
