The fallacy of organized religion.
Us forgiving each other does nothing for them. We have no ability to absolve their sin before God, they still answer to God for their wrong.
Us forgiving them sets us free from the bondage of being tied to that person because of being offended by them. And it is obedience on our part.
Besides, they cannot ask the kid who got killed for forgiveness for their actions, so even if you are correct, then they can’t ever get that forgiveness, and therefore still are accountable to God.
