Biden admin mandates EVs but can’t build more than seven charging stations costing $7.5 billion

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was asked on CBS News' "Face the Nation" about the $7.5 billion taxpayers have been levied for a nationwide EV charging station network.

In the over two years since the funding was announced, the Federal Highway Administration (FHA) has managed to produce only seven, despite the announced plans call for a half million stations being built six years from now by 2030. Buttigieg was unfazed when asked about the numbers.

I would love to have that Government contract; I’ll take 7.5 billion and I promise I could get at least 7 charging stations installed in 3 years.

Look in their pockets. We are being victimized by the biggest scam in history.

From what I’ve read, the money gets sent to the states. The states and grant recipients have to follow all the fed requirements before the grant is issued. There is also a grant limit of $30K to $100K. A $100K doesn’t go very far on $1M+ installation..

I’m sure that’s true, I was trying to show how absurd the entire program is by being absurd myself.

Supposedly, the goal is to have 500,000 charging stations by 2030, so far, we have 7, 499,993 to go in 5.5 years, I think it’s safe to say the government won’t meet the target, in fact I doubt they reach 10,000 charging stations, it will end up being a colossal waste of time and money.

10,000? I’ll be surprised if they crack 100 at this rate.

I didn’t say they would all be in working order.

I predict they get 100 installed, they will get stolen for the copper wire the government will replace them, in the end the government will install same 100 charging stations 100 times because they keep getting stolen.

Let’s steal from hard-working, overtaxed Americans 7.5 BILLION so that we can build 7 charging stations. The enablers of The Biden Crime Family can mandate it. Transportation Secretary Peter will remain unfazed. The deception of the citizens continues.

I remember when we were outraged by $600 toilet seats. Seems reasonable by comparison.

I think that might be individual charging ports. From what I’ve read, there are currently around 30K DC fast charging ports of various kinds in the US. If each station has 8 ports, that would be ~59K stations to go.

Look at the space launch business, NASA combined with Boeing’s Space Launch Alliance can’t get a rocket off the ground, meanwhile Elon Musk’s Spacex just completed the 14th launch in May alone, while landing the boosters and reusing them.

That’s an average price of $1 billion per charging station. They must be luxurious charging stations.

I have full confidence in Mayor Pete to get the job done, it takes a great man to get EV charging stations installed while chest feeding a newborn at the same time.

And not only 100 but it will eventually cost 3-5 times more than projected.
