China says its uncrewed craft has successfully landed on the far side of the Moon - an unexplored place almost no-one tries to go.
The Chang'e 6 touched down in the South Pole-Aitken Basin at 06:23 Beijing time on Sunday morning (22:23 GMT Saturday), the China National Space Administration (CNSA) said.
Launched on 3 May, the mission aims to collect precious rock and soil from this region for the first time in history.
The probe could extract some of the Moon's oldest rocks from a huge crater on its South Pole.

LOL...thanks for the Sunday morning chuckle! Good one.
Is China choosing the far side of the moon to keep everyone else from observing what they are up to??
Why Johnny Can’t BuildBlame decades of dumbed-down education and the government paying for useless "studies" degrees (via bad education loans) instead of creating incentives for STEM degrees.

I thought it was funny, too! But I have a twisted sense of humor and can’t tell if others will think the same.
It is fun to make fun of the ChiComms. I would not last long in China.😉
We not see your cat; don’t ask!
There is lots of appreciation of a twisted sense of humor here on FR. Keep it up!
GET OFF OUR MOON!
We get signal.
Have you ever tried to develop a national space program?
You don't make the jump from airplanes, to interplanetary travel, and all the civil and military systems associated with it, in one go.
“A rat done bit my sister Nell....”
Pan fried pork dumplings at 1/6 gravity would have a nice, light quality.
</chuckle>
“It’s pointless to go to the moon.”
This means that as the sun ages, it gets steadily brighter. The dinosaurs knew a dimmer sun than we see today, and in as little as a few hundred million years, Earth will get too hot to handle.
Our atmosphere will get stripped away. Our oceans will evaporate. For awhile, we’ll look something like Venus, locked in a choking, carbon dioxide atmosphere.
And then it gets worse.

Second time they’ve done it. I think they are going to declare the far side of the moon Chinese territory.
Good one! You know, of course, if you take the N out of China, you are left with Chia. Which of course is how China has grown...just sayin’.
Is there a supply of cats up there we don’t know about?
How is this evenly possible? How can they even see? Isn’t it always dark over there? Isn’t that what our head of NASA or some other bigwig expert claimed?
I would also ask “how are they doing this?“
Do they have an orbiting lunar satellite that relays data?
I’m skeptical.
So if they put in 3 more bases, they could play baseball.
