I’m of two minds on this.
#1 Democrats telling people how to live in ways they don’t want to, in order to get help, eg they have no personal freedoms.
#2 These people need help.

My solution is this, offer those who want it, housing.
with rules that ignore smoking, drinking and drug rules.
If you threaten or hurt someone, you go to jail.

The rest, move all support systems into a desert and let them follow. Kind of a “Mad Max” junkie style. Except
they have food, water, and MASH style medical care.
With no drug law enforcement, don’t bother, it didn’t work in prohibition. just let them be, but very isolated.

About one third of these people are seniors or people over the age of 50. Out of those, about half are working and can’t afford the high costs of rents, etc.

The rest are junkies, etc.
Every single one have different stories.

So, what is to be done? Arrest them? Put them into institutions? Prisons?

As to your later..ever been to slab city? It is an actual place along the salton sea in CA.
We have. And if it doesn’t remind a person of the Mad Max movie, nothing would.

Burning Man isn't until late August, but it's an interesting approach.
