Bragg’s thrill kill in Manhattan could prove short-lived on appeal
The Hill ^ | June 6, 2024 | Jonathan Turley

The conviction of former President Donald Trump in Manhattan of 34 felonies produced citywide celebrations.

...

The celebrants would be wise to think twice before mounting this trophy kill on the political wall. The Trump trial is a target-rich environment for an appeal, with multiple layers of reversible error, in my view.

I am less convinced by suggestions that the case could be challenged on the inability of Trump receiving a fair trial in a district that voted roughly 90 percent against him. The problem was not the jury, but the prosecutors and the judge.

Some of the most compelling problems can be divided into four groups.

Trump should have Jonathan Turley as his attorney.

Wouldn’t have made a bit of difference in that leftist court. They had one goal, and NOTHING gets in the way.

“Trump should have Jonathan Turley as his attorney”

Don’t be surprised if you catch some flak over that comment

the only problem is that if turley represented him, but at the last moment turned on Trump (like so many of his previous picks did when the wind blew just right) and threw the case intentionally- everyone would be saying “Trump should have known better than to pick a liberal to represent him”

one of those ‘damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t’ scenarios i think?

Trump should have Jonathan Turley as his attorney.“

One look at the “judges” who make the Manhattan appeals court will tell you that it won’t matter who Trump’s lawyer is.

Doesn’t matter, Trump will always be referred to as a convicted felon. Mission accomplished.

I don't blame the jury - the judged rigged the trial. You're right on that Carriage.

The only way to make democrats understand how horrible this was is to do it back to them. Lots of democrat office holders have committed misdemeanors in the last 7 or 8 years that we can bind into felonies. and I'm sure there are hundreds of 'hush money' (nondisclosure agreements) we can exploit about democrats .. and members of the liberal press and bimbos and pretentious 'men' on MSNBC.

Let's offer cash rewards for information on the above groups and take those assh*les to court. We might not get convictions that will stand but we sure as hell can teach them that what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

And no one should back down because we don't want to be as bad as they are... we need to stick it to them and not let up for years. Just like they did to Trump. And we need to jail their 'protesters'. Label everything an 'insurrection;. Be them.Turn their style of hate back on them. Never let up. YOU see a democrat - you have an enemy.

I expected this outcome. I also expect that all State of NY appeals will be slow walked and rejected to ensure outcome change is post election, and when Trump wins, they will make sure it is dragged out post inauguration.

This will need to be reversed only after NY courts refuse to correct these blatant unconstitutional actions and the Federal courts finally get involved. NY courts could care less about getting slapped down or anything else. They are on a mission to punish their political opponent, Trump, and will fully and completely back Merchan.

The US congress has a hush money fund. We should demand that records be released immediately.

Even lib tv lawyers are saying this is a mess. The appellate court is going to be conflicted between hate and law.
