Donald Trump’s conviction is nothing more than a ‘thrill kill’
NY Post ^ | 5/31/24 | Jonathan Turley

Posted on 05/31/2024 6:01:47 PM PDT by Libloather

After years of trying — in the words of the judge — “to get the damned rascal in this court,” it was a conviction that many welcomed.

But those words were not from Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, and the conviction was not that of former President Donald Trump.

Rather they were from US Supreme Court Justice Samuel Chase, at the end of the 18th century, when America embraced political prosecutions to target critics and opponents.

The man on trial then was James T. Callender, a muckraking writer critical of President John Adams.

For accusing politicians of corruption, Callender was charged with sedition, fined $200 and put in prison.

It was one of the many political prosecutions carried out by the Adams administration.

Political prosecutions are something most citizens associate with dictatorships.

But the Trump prosecution has forced many to confront the undeniable reality of the politicization of our legal system.

In many respects, President Biden and Democrats have re-created the Adams era.

Biden has led calls for censorship of political critics and his administration has coordinated the silencing and the blacklisting of those with opposing views.

One of my faves - Trump’s $355M fine won’t hurt NY businesses that follow the law, Gov. Hochul says

Turley should walk the talk by withdrawing from the Rat Party and vow not to vote Rat any time soon.

Don’t be part of the Ratocracy.

All you women who want a man of the street
An’ don’t know which way you wanna turn
Just keep a-coming and put your hand out to me
‘Cause I’m the one who’s going to make you burn

I’m going to take you down
Oh, down, down, down
So, don’t you fool around
I’m gonna pull it, pull it
Pull the trigger

Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women with too many pills, yeah
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, gonna fire at will, yeah

I’m like evil, I get under your skin
Just like a bomb that’s ready to blow
‘Cause I’m illegal
I got everything that all you women might need to know

I’m gonna take you down
Yeah, down, down, down
So, don’t you fool around
I’m gonna pull it, pull it
Pull the trigger

Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women with too many pills, said
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, gonna fire at will
‘Cause I shoot to thrill, and I’m ready to kill
I can’t get enough and I can’t get my fill
I shoot to thrill, play to kill
Yeah

Pull the trigger, pull it
Pull it, pull it
Pull the trigger

Oh Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women with too many pills, I said
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, going to fire at will
‘Cause I shoot to thrill and I’m ready to kill
I can’t get enough and I can’t get my fill
‘Cause I shoot to thrill, play to kill

Yeah
Shoot you down, yeah
I’m gonna get you down on the bottom, girl
Shoot you, I’m going to shoot you
Ooh, yeah
Yeah, yeah
I’m going to shoot you down, yeah-yeah
I’m going to get you down
Down, down, down, down

Shoot you, shoot you, shoot you, shoot you down
Shoot you, shoot you, shoot you down

I’m gonna shoot to thrill
Play to kill
Shoot to thrill

So, now that the trial is over, perhaps NY could tell us the proper way for us to record our hush money payments?

My concern is that the New York judge will try to “spike the ball” and imprison Trump right before the convention. How will the country react to a blatant attempt to make the election a single candidate ballot? We might look at an event in July where the people said enough and tore down the hated Bastille with their bare hands and sparked a bloody revolution

Why do you think Judge Merchan scheduled Trump's sentencing for July 11th? The RNC begins on July 15th. Of course the judge will imprison Trump right before the convention. That's the whole point.

how did that work for the peacefully assembled people last time ?

I think the ptb would really enjoy an attempt at a bastile day.

The ruling parties have learned from that mistake, and have made sure it can never happen again.

It was far too late a long time ago.

The supreme court needs to end this era of political prosecution.

We're at the stage in our banana republic where SCOTUS rulings that displease the Left will be ignored.

Reminder when Biden was told he lacked the constitutional authority to forgive student loans?

How did that work out?

My wife says Trump should pick Tulsi Gabbard for his running mate.
TRUMP and TULSI, with the slogan: TNT-Let’s Shake This Up.

Avoid needing hush money payments if you’re running for political office?

Yep, we passed the too late point in 2020. Too many republicans afflicted by the “go along to get along” disease. Trump will be imprisoned by Maximum Juan right before the convention. I look for him to set a sentence of about 15 years by racking up consecutive sentences on Trump.

No. That causes the need for a hush money payment.
