One of the jurors is a lawyer. I held out hope that at least he would recognize how absurd the prosecution’s arguments were and would have had enough professional decency to vote not-guilty. What was I thinking?

Two lawyers and they think this was legit. Their firms should be shamed for this low understanding or view of the law.

Those lawyers were likely the eyes and ears of the judge. They were afraid of jury nullification and needed skilled people to recognize it and the (potential) verbal skills to disarm it.
