Six people miraculously managed to survive a plane crash on Saturday afternoon after the pilot parachuted out of the aircraft near Butler Memorial Airport in Bates County, Missouri.
The plane, a single-engine Cessna C206, crashed in a hay field close to the airport, outside of Kansas City, just before 1pm on Saturday.
The Bates County Sheriff’s Office said the aircraft was found just east of the runway.
The pilot had been wearing a parachute and was able to jump from the plane before the crash. He was found at a hangar at the airport.
The other six passengers were all treated and released at the scene...

Exactly!
I looked at the crash picture and they were all looked at/treated on the scene and then released.

nothing the FAA likes better than someone living through a plane crash
DING DING DING
My bet is that this was a skydiving incident. The pilot of a skydiving airplane is required to wear a parachute. The headline is grotesquely sensationalized.
Paratroopers ...
Yes , everyone jumped out before the plane crashed.
“When told of the pilot’s whereabouts, the passengers beat the pilot to within an inch of his life.”
Come on! You don’t really believe they survived a crash that totally destroyed the plane.
“Makes me question the pilot’s confidence in the aircraft.”
FAA regs require him to wear a parachute.
“So the captain didn’t want to go down with his ship? Took the only life raft and left the passengers to perish.”
Since 2006 and still getting jerked by click-bait.
“Exactly!”
Exactly ... NOT!
“nothing the FAA likes better than someone living through a plane crash”
NOBODY lived through this crash!
Makes perfect government sense. Sucks to be a passenger, but their seat cushions double as flotation devices, so at least they got something.

The passengers were also required to wear parachutes.
The last one out, left the "Auto-Pilot" on.
one of the skydivers snagged his reserve chute handle and it deployed, got caught up in the tail, damaged it, and sent the plane into a tailspin. All of the skydivers then exited, and then the pilot. The pilot always wears a parachute for scenarios just like this.
That information is not in the posted story. Was there something special about this particular aircraft that required that?
maybe in the after life?

It was a skydiving plane. All jumpers are required to have parachutes ...
