I think the mania we see (saw especially) of politcal correctness is not entirely unlike that of witchcraft and of possession the country went through in the 1600s.

Like then many of the most fervent witch hunters and believers were relatively educated and intelligent people. Several high position academics at Harvard were involved in the Salem Witchcraft trails as example.

Professor Dutton has some video’s on the issue and he says it’s the normal /Above average intelligence types (not high mind you, they can rise above it) that are better at sensing group thought and react to it.
