The massive "doomsday glacier" known for its rapid destabilization is undergoing a "vigorous ice melt" that scientists say could reshape sea level rise projections.
In a new study, glaciologists from the University of California, Irvine, found that warm, high-pressure ocean water is seeping beneath West Antarctica's Thwaites Glacier, making it more vulnerable to melting than previously thought. The glacier is roughly 80 miles across, the widest on Earth. It packs so much ice that if it were to completely collapse, it could singlehandedly cause global sea levels to rise by more than two feet, according to the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration, prompting its moniker as the "Doomsday Glacier."

If you had eaten your crickets like a good serf this wouldn’t be happening.
Do you know how many square meters of surface water is in all of the seas? This big chunk of ice would just go bloop and nobody would notice.
Wow, that’s a shame. Pass me some fries...
This is true. Ice cubes melting in a glass of water will not cause the water to over flow the glass. The volume of water has already been displaced by the ice.
From your map, it looks like...the Everglades would turn into ocean.
Oh well. We’ll also lose New Orleans. I can handle that.
Point is, we probably cannot stop “climate change” no matter what we do! It has been going on since forever.
“Could”
Then again, maybe not.
Yawn, yawn…natural conditions are not stable or static…never have been, never will be…hmmm, what am I having for lunch???
I am puzzled. Is the Thwaites Glacier spread out over water, or is it based on land?

I think most glaciers in Antartica sit on land but protrude some over the water. So technically not floating.
A glacier by definition is on land. A chunk of glacier that has broken off and made its way into the water (sea/ocean) would be an iceberg.
At least based on my understanding of the terms (limited though it may be).
The volume of water has already been displaced by the ice.

I think most glaciers in Antartica sit on land but protrude over the water some. So technically not floating and displacing water.
Even if you assume the sea level will rise 2 feet, calling it “dooms day” is a bit extreme. It is a one off event. There are no other coast lines covered with thick ice in the world. Obviously Obama and Biden are not worried so why should I?
[Wow! Two feet of water might drown more of Obama’s beach house cooks!]
After midnight......
If the increased water supply results in more flowers blooming and thus more pollen, then some people will sneeze at it.
There is evidence that a large ice dam collapsed instantly some long time ago and created the geologic features seen across some northern parts of the US.
Doomsday glacier? What happens if the glacier implodes and nothing happens to the ocean? I bet it would disappear down the memory hole like Al Gore’s ridiculous claims. Maybe I would believe some of their BS when Obama and the billionaires sell their oceanfront homes.
Same old crap, “the end is near again”.
