I ran across this by accident the other day when looking for a park to hike. It's a fun little contest to get people outside and enjoying their county parks. I'm going to give it a go!
Does anybody maintain a Bay Area, Silicon Valley, or Santa Clara County ping list?

My friend won their contest 3 years in a row. Except that after everything was finished and she was in the lead they each time they somehow recalibrated the points and made somebody else win.

Wow, that’s awful! It doesn’t sound like there’s a single winner. If you complete the ten parks, you win a t-shirt (until they run out).
She must be a good hiker! I was getting some winter hiking in during my over-winter stay in Idaho. Lots of hiking on ice and snow wearing cleats. It’s good to be back on our Santa Clara County trails! I’m a little late getting back and missed the green April, but everything is pretty now turning “golden.”

Having done native plant habitat restoration work for 30 years in this region, the vegetative conditions of local parks in California is depressing. I go there and what I see is weeds and excessive levels of fuel.
It doesn't have to be this way, it does take work to fix it.

Unfortunately, there are people who fight for the invasive species and weed protection.
E.g., Parts of AZ are invaded by saltcedar, an invasive Middle Eastern tree, and there are people fighting for it to be left alone!

Yes, it does NOT belong here.
Plus replaces native plants.
