Opinion: I changed my mind about the strength of the prosecution’s case against Donald Trump. Here’s why

(CNN) -
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office made a significant tactical error announcing they were resting their case after calling Michael Cohen as their final witness in the Donald Trump hush money trial. But it’s not because Cohen, a convicted felon and disbarred lawyer, was a bad witness. He actually did pretty well in responding to the prosecution’s warm-up when confronted with his prior bad acts, convictions and bias toward the former president, staying steady on the stand and not losing his cool.
But Cohen lost his footing during cross-examination Thursday, where it appeared he omitted important information when recounting an October 2016 phone call he claims he had with Trump to discuss the hush money payment. The heated exchange between Trump’s attorney Todd Blanche and Cohen marked the biggest blow to the prosecution’s case so far.

Author believes the prosecution didn't prove its case convincingly.

My comment: Unfortunately, out of ignorance ("34 charges so he MUST be guilty of something") or bad faith, the jury might convict anyway.

Does it really matter to the jury?

If it matters to any of them, that might be enough for a mistrial.

Based on the two previous NYC cases that Trump lost — the EJ Carroll rape allegations and the Trump Real Estate loan deal ( where Trump was asked to pay and outrageous nearly half a billion dollars ), I bet my money on BAD FAITH.

I hope you're right, but I doubt it'll happen.

The TDS people literally think they have an historic chance to defeat another Hitler. It's like they think they're going back in time, to kill Hitler before he gets a chance to start a world war.

It's like the A-A students who actually believe they are freed slaves. Or still slaves.

The media will doxx the holdout juror and their family's life will be destroyed. They know this. Better to go along with the mob.

The Judge let people on the Jury that said they did not like Trump and said they couldn’t stand his personality.

The Judge was getting more money for his daughter way back when.

His daughter has raked in over $100 Million just in this trial. He’s not walking away until Trump is convicted.

I think the point was made clear that anyone who votes to acquit will be doxxed.

The CNN author somehow negates to state that one of the star witnesses owes Trumps hundreds of thousands and admitted she can speak to dead people.

In my opinion, this hand picked Jury knows what the Judge believes they should do. They produce for the Judge.

I saw tonight on the news that Merchan’s jury instructions are going to be 700 pages.

I think doxxed is putting it lightly. I’ll bet some goons with dark glasses payed a visit to every juror. If anyone votes not guilty they are a real patriot and putting their lives on the line.

It’s true, sometimes an author with little or nothing worthwhile to say will puff his prose up and out of all proportion to try to hide that sad but unavoidable fact.

There’s no there, there.

Where’s the beef? Nowhere.

It’s a nothingburger!

“The media will doxx the holdout juror and their family’s life will be destroyed. They know this. Better to go along with the mob.”

This was discussed on War Room recently. (Mike Davis, I think.) If a juror votes in favor of PDJT, his life will be over, perhaps literally, and his entire family will suffer. Every juror knows this for sure.

I’m thinking that if a juror were to go against the tide, he’d better already have arranged to be placed in WITSEC the minute he walks out the door, with his family waiting in the van.

“All Trump needs is one juror.”

Yes. One juror with a terminal illness who has nothing to lose by doing the right thing.

Your satisfied as to Cohen’s credibility huh? LOL!

What was the underlying crime again?....I mean the one the prosecution will not name. What was that crime? We know it wasn’t a campaign finance violation. That’s already been tried and utterly failed. See Edwards, Jonathan. So...what was it?

Notice the subtle unconscious bias at CNN. “If one juror has uncertainty, there will be a hung jury… and Trump will walk free.” The use of the phrase “walk free” strongly implies that Trump is guilty and will be getting away with something.

neither of those two case were decided by a jury.

A judge just imposed his verdict.

In one case he was ‘convicted’ on the paperwork alone. After decades, the judge looked at the case and pronounced him guilty, and proceeded right to the penalty phase
