Too many Americans are clueless on what it means to be a leader. As a Platoon Leader, I learned first hand that what my platoon did, or failed to do was my responsibility, and mine alone.
That maxim stayed with me as I assumed other positions, to include Battery Commander at Fort Bliss.
When Biden took the Oath of Office in 2021, it all fell on him, whether he liked it or not. Today's announcement tells us he has abdicated his responsibility as POTUS.
When my stepdaughter enlisted into the Army her Drill Sergeants immediately recognized her “problem” with authority, so they made her a squad leader.
And they ingrained into her brain (think 3 DS’s yelling at you so close they were spitting on your face) that anything that happened in her squad was her fault - good or bad.
She made E5 pretty quick, and went to E7 before she got her degree, at which point she became an Officer.
24 years in she retired a Major.
