On Tuesday, both of the New Jersey gym owners who had been fighting a legal battle over their defiance of the Garden State's COVID-19 lockdown orders were finally cleared of all charges.
A controversial New Jersey gym owner who defied the Garden State’s COVID-19 restrictions was cleared of more than 80 charges relating to a series of pandemic-era confrontations with police — and he celebrated by posting on social media that the governor could “suck his d–k.”
Ian Smith and Frank Trumbetti — co-owners of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr — racked up the summonses after they kept their workout spot open in May 2020 despite Gov. Phil Murphy’s mandate to close non-essential businesses.
At one point, cops even arrested some gym rats as they left the building — and the owners were hit with scores of summonses and eventually ordered to pay about $165,000 in fines for violating public health emergency rules, according to NJ.com.
The reaction by law enforcement was, one might say, vigorous — as were the charges filed against the Atilis Gym's owners.

The entire concept of “qualified immunity” needs to be completely done away with. There’s no Constitutional basis for it whatsoever.

Sad that Justice took all these years to be upheld, and the guy spent a fortune and probably is broke. I hope hope he can recover all of his legal fees and some damages.
He received about half a million in donations during this incident.

followed Ian thru this journey he was on the talk radio shows here in philly today. He has moved to florida good move. At least we got rid of the emergency crap here in PA.
The cases were dismissed with prejudice. That’s pretty good for NJ.
The commies came out of the woodwork once the government gave the OKAY. Only a few stood up to the authoritarians which I found surprising. Everytime I saw a workplace that was open and maskless I would make a point to talk and give my ‘sunlight kills the Chinese bioweapon’ line. To this day I won’t have anything to do with the people that I saw enforcing the lockdown.
I wish my gym stayed open during covid. Not lifting weights and running on treadmill adversely affected my health.
My dog tried to kill our stupid governor, who I’d met several times, while walking in the park. I’ll always regret that leash.
