Hertz:
“This alien to our company computer which we had absolutely no knowledge of and even no control of, is responsible.”
“Flounder, you f’d up. You trusted us.”

It _would_ be ridiculous if it only took 5 minutes to fully charge the car. How long does it take to charge a battery 100%?

But I don't like Spam.

Actually I really do.   I had spam and pinto beans for dinner.   Oh, and a spear of dill pickle.

” I had spam and pinto beans for dinner. “

My wife bought another case of spam at Costco last Saturday.

Recently I rented a car from Thrifty and subsidiary of Hertz. It was the managers special. I would find out what it was when I got to the airport. When picking up the car he said, “I was supposed to give you an EV but I will not do that to you.” I said, “they are pieces of Sh— and I would not take it anyway.” He said, “Yeah, they are.” He gave me full size gasoline powered vehicle for the same price. He was a good guy.

I suspect he has had many problems with the EVs.

“Why are people prone to offering their opinions without knowing the facts?”

Why are smug EV-worshiping liberals so keen to defend their greed-driven pipe dream?

Taking a quick glance at some of the Hertz sub $25K Teslas, they have a lot of miles on the odometer. If the EV is under $25K it is eligible for the $4K fed incentive. One car for example, was a 2022 M3 with ~85K mile listed for $22.5K. The battery warranty will run out in about a year of normal driving.

You don't charge EVs to 100% unless you need the range. The battery charge rate significantly slows down past 80%. Tesla claims 200 miles in 15 minutes on their website. That is assuming ideal battery conditions and no waiting for a stall.

If Herz needs to get any money back, they first need to look to their own stupidity. They didn’t need to buy into a bunch of EVs; someone sold them on that foolish plan & their management bought into it. I know nothing about managing a company, but it seems that a sharp 8th grader could have seen the fish hook in that deal. The customers that paid any gasoline fees to them should join in a class action suit & then Hertz could have some more problems that they brought on themselves.

I did. If you had read it, you would know the relevant clauses aren’t included.

You also can lease from Uber or Lyft by the week or month a Model 3 or Y. They don’t require you to actually drive it as a Uber driver but in a single day you can make the lease payment for the month especially if you lease a black model Y that qualifies for Uber Black and those avg $200 hr in the big cities like L.A., NYC, DFW. You can turn it back in no questions asked no mileage fees and no worries about the battery warranty.

My model 3 has 46xxx and is holding at 97% SOH, it gets supercharged a couple times a week of the college kid that uber’s it part time needs too. Otherwise it’s L2 in the stable of vehicles over night. The SOH decline is flat over the last 10,000 miles it has not lost even .5% more these are LFP cells not NMC and they have twice the cycle life down to 10%SOC vs NMC or NMA cells. Uber model 3s are going 400,000 miles , Tesla expects the LFP packs to make it to 500,000 and designed the M3 to be a robotaxi from the start with the expectation of 100,000+ miles per year and a 8 year lifespan.

Never is. All big corps do this. 3A decided that I was planning to drive my 4 vehicles 50k this next year, up from my usual roughly 20k.

If I didn’t catch that, I’d have ended up paying an extra 800 bucks.

And how many people actually pay attention to these things.

Who the heck wants to stop and charge a rental car for an hour and a half anyway?

A model 3 RWD the rental version will charge from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes if it is at a Tesla supercharger 170kw out of the 250kw or 350kw CCS in that case. A model S will use the full 350 if available. So no not an hour and a half you have to return it at 75% or more or just pay the $25 drop off at any charge level fee. Nearly every 4 star or up valet hotel will L2 charge a Tesla as part of the valet parking package. Most people who rent a car in a city on travel are going to drive 200 miles or less on that rental which means they will never need to charge if they paid up front for it. Which at $25 for hertz returns is cheaper than the pre paid gasoline options every one of them. Most people who rent a car in a travel city are using them to get from the hotel to the meeting nearly always less than 10 miles round trip otherwise you chose poorly on your hotel rental. And then night life and dinner again even Houston the largest metropolitan area by size from end to end is on it 40 miles across. So if you went edge to edge every night for dinner and nightlife you would have 3 nights before you needed to charge a Model S. No one does this so it’s moot.
