Actually a lot of the border towns like Hudson, Pelham, Salem, and Plastow are hard-Red. People who are economically tied to MA but don’t want to live in the People’s Republic of MA have moved there.
From what I have seen, the real problem people are from NY, NJ, and PA.
Nashua, the 2nd largest city, is on the border. It might as well be MA. There are 27 State Representatives, every one of them is a Dem.
Can’t argue that, I’m not there. But my experience, (and my Dad’s) going back 60 years was that the “bluing” of eastern Mass was the constant influx of people from away who came to Boston for college and never left. They drove the real Yankees out, mostly with money. Dad had to sell the farm because the town started assessing based on road frontage, (i.e. value as house lots), and he couldn’t begin to afford the taxes. Our hayfields and the orchard are all McMansions now.
