Sound like kind of a big deal if it’s the only bridge connectng Galveston with the mainland.
This bridge is between pelican island and Galveston Island not Galveston and the mainland. The only thing of significance on pelican island is Texas A&M Galveston campus it’s a small island in Trinity Bay. There are two causeways to the mainland one carries IH45 and terminates that hwy at the island the other is on the southern tip of Galveston Island and it connects the South end to the bluewater hwy via San Luis pass them to Freeport and back to Houston metro area via 283. The southern pass has no channel nor commercial traffic. The Island is safe.
