Much talk about Vlad’s taking back Kharkov… does he stand back and pound the Ukies into dust , as usual? Do remember Kharkov is ethnic Russian, and his “ Northern” group was formed to rid the Ukro Nazis that have been shelling Belograd…..interesting to note: a few of the Ukro Nazi brigades that committed the terror attacks on Belgorod, were absolutely decimated/ shredded/ annihilated a few days ago- in other words- targeted.

Much like the Avdivka victory- Avidiivka was massively fortified and used to shell Donetsk city since 2014….now as it has fallen, the shelling of Donetsk has all but ceased.

The Point? As Vlad is advancing all along the Eastern Front ( think Nazi Germany), maybe he spares Kharkov due to the rich Russian history?

In any case, the Russian Bear is moving methodically and calculated.

Anyone who thinks Ukraine will prevail over Russia is delusional.

The thing about Kharkiv is that it has a population of 1.5 million, making it the second largest city in Ukraine. It has a population similar to Phoenix.

We haven't seen anything remotely like that change hands in this war so far. That's a lot of refugees if the population leaves. |

Elsewhere I have seen that the Russians captured a group of soldiers who are Ukrainian "blockers" whose job it was to prevent other Ukrainian soldiers trying to leave the city.

An interception plan was introduced in the Kharkov region due to the mass exodus of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers There are reinforced checkpoints on the main roads of the region with “armed men without identification marks” who are looking for Ukrainian soldiers fleeing en masse from the battlefield. This statement, citing his own sources, was made by a military expert, retired lieutenant colonel of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), Andrei Marochko.

It's a big step up for Russia to try to capture so large a city. It would put a lot more pressure on Zelensky to negotiate an end to the war, losing the second city to the Russians. It will also probably cause a humanitarian catastrophe as 1.5 million people flee, presumably into Kiev.
