Ok, thanks. Democrats want a jury conviction before Nov, so a DV was always a long shot.

Directed verdict? How about no verdict, a dismissal based on the prosecution failing to meet the burden of proof of guilt?

Remember, the defense has only so far cross-examined prosecution witnesses. Trump has not yet had his turn to put on a defense. There should be at least another week or two of defense calling witnesses and the prosecution cross-examining before we get to closing arguments, jury instructions, and a verdict.

If Bragg failed to meet the burden of proof tying Trump to falsely reporting records, or if Bragg failed to prove that there was another crime that was furthered by falsified records, then Merchan must dismiss the case without the defendant even having to put up a defense.
