Good article but the writer got a couple of facts wrong. First, Minnesota’s last vote for a GOP candidate was Nixon in 1972 not Ike in 1952. Also, Clinton won New Jersey over Bush by less than three points in 1992.
Trump misspoke and said 1952, during his speech. The writer didn’t bother to check and just repeated it.
