I don’t believe the marginalization theory, but, assuming arguendo it has merit, if these women didn’t feel the need to announce their preference, the environment would be more salubrious. Maybe they’re marginalized because their demand for attention just pisses people off.

I think with most “gays” “marginalization” is more of of an issue, depending on what one expects, what one “must have” (in terms of recognition) and what can make one happy without “being out” all the time. In other words, I think “marginalization” is a bigger issue for one for whom it is a big issue to begin with, and less of an issue for one for whom “being out” with friends and family and close associates is the only “being out” they need and the rest is unimportant.

Anyone for any reason who dwells too much on what others think of them, instead of focusing more on their own character and behavior towards others is always unhappy and always thinking they are “marginalized”.
