The ‘front end’ is wasted words in the equipment industry jargon, since the operator is facing forward toward the loader mechanism.
Hauled both through the years. You could spot a newbie at hauling equipment when they didn’t know the jargon, for example: tracked excavator= track-hoe; bulldozer= dozer; road grader= blade; earth mover= scraper.
