Not so much anymore, especially if you’re declared “guilty” of some doubleplusungood thoughtcrime in the court of the media and/or public opinion.
Good examples being how Dr. Jordan Peterson got hauled in front of the tenure review board at University of Toronto, and how the professor, who was my Master’s Degree supervisor likewise found his tenure under review, when he went to Ottawa a couple years back, and spoke at the Freedom Convoy protests (for obvious reasons, I’m not going to mention his name).
There was also a prof at my Alma Mater during undergrad, that got his tenure revoked, when a few female students complained that he harassed them. I didn’t feel sorry for the guy, because he really WAS a pompous, insufferable a-hole, who thought he was better than everyone else because he got his doctorate at MIT, and had been “reduced” to the indignity of teaching at a mid-tier Canadian university (horror of horrors)
