The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) is negotiating a new contract with the public schools system and is understood to be calling for an extra $50 billion to pay for wage hikes as well as other demands such as fully paid abortions for its members, new migrant services and facilities and a host of LGBT-related requirements and training in schools.
To put the figure into context, the total base tax receipts for the state of Illinois last year were $50.7 billion.

Get rid of all public employee unions. Whatever Chicago spends per pupil give it instead to the parents in the form of a voucher they can use to educate their kids anywhere they see fit. I’m betting a good % of the teachers in the Chicago schools are pretty worthless anyway.
We spend $28k per student here and still the majority in public schools test out way below their grade levels. Some years ago they gave teachers a 40% raise with teachers promising that would make a difference because they could then retain and attract quality teachers. It made zero difference the test scores continued downward.
ILL is already bankrupt.
They should be demanding a cease-fire in Chicago instead.
It looks like 330k students...so $150k per student?
“Chicago public schools spend $18,000 per student. What an incredible waste of money!”
Actually CPS spends 28K per “student” and they cant even say the word ask properly....
The abortions are up to and through the 3500th week after gestation.
btt
Cook County and Chicago do not and will never have the money for that. Devoid of reality.
It is a federal felony to encourage illegals to live here.
