Absolutely, 100%.
I have a decent vocabulary, and when I saw “compersion” it was a word I have never seen or used. So I looked it up, and it came up with “polyamory” which nearly any person can noodle out the meaning, contrasted with “compersion”, which is obscure and somewhat abstracted..
I have zero respect for the psychiatric community as a whole, even if I can recognize there are people in it who I might respect individually.
I love to write, and I understand that there are often times when multiple words might be used in a sentence, but only one fits perfectly or very well. So, when I see someone use a word like that, it usually indicates one of two things:
They are trying to sound more intelligent than they are.
Or they are trying to obscure something.
In this case, I believe it is both.
