Twice here at the farm and once at a big party at the foot of one of the mountains close by. Two people were killed at that party. Hubby was tossed several feet and knocked out. He was extremely lucky that time. His sleep pattern was messed up the rest of his life, and he magnetized metal, such as his keys that he kept in his pocket. He couldn’t wear a watch because he killed the batteries.

It IS scary. None were direct hits but through the ground. The two at the farm, he was running for cover and lightning struck the water line to the house. His foot was on the ground just above the pipe as the zap ran through it.

At the party, a bolt struck a huge tree. The couple who were killed were sitting in a chair right underneath it. Hubby and some others were carrying tables and chairs to a barn and their feet were over the roots when the strike hit.

Hubby wouldn’t talk about it much. I learned what happened from one of his buddies who was also there that day.
