Protesters, tents return to Library Mall after Wednesday morning arrests
“MADISON, WI — Law enforcement from multiple agencies took down tents at the protest site on the campus of the University of Wisconsin Wednesday morning.
Police said 34 people were arrested, though ultimately only four were booked into the Dane County Jail.
Officers began clearing the space just before 7 a.m., after issuing warnings to protesters assembled.
As the tents were being removed, the actions of some officers and protesters became physical.
5:00 p.m. (Wednesday evening) SUMMARY
Tents have returned to Library Mall since Wednesday morning’s initial sweep of the area, as well as hundreds of people. However, the protests have remained peaceful.
In a statement, UWPD officials said that officers are monitoring the encampment to ensure public safety. UW-Madison officials said campus operations are proceeding as normal.”
Diana here: It’s going to rain all day; bad storms from 10am to Noon. Should be interesting to see how their tents hold up and/or who of the brain-dead abandon ship in the deluge. ;)
