A SOLID majority of republican voters support large decreases in legal immigration levels & putting a stop to illegal immigration altogether. Sizable majorities of Republican voters have favored decreasing legal immigration since the early 90s. Republican politicians, on the other hand, have long favored high legal immigration levels (because big business bankrolls Republican bureaucrats reelection campaigns- in return for voting for to import high levels of the cheapest possible labor .
