And, when it comes to Americans. don't forget that going to war is not open to a voter decision. Those in Congress know very well that supporting US troops on the ground would their careers. I doubt there would be even 10 votes for that in the House.
Trump has already said he'll end the war within 24 hours if he's elected.

Trump would end the Uke war soon after taking office, but not by ending support to Ukraine. Besides, Trump would not dare to take support away and allow Russia to win, otherwise, republicans would be blamed for losing Ukraine and losing trust with those who were our friends overseas. There is actually a lot more to lose than 'just Ukraine'.
When it comes to the votes to support Ukraine, there are actually a lot more congresspeople who support in congress than oppose, on the democratic side and in the republican side. Many fear stating their true beliefs because of the politics of it all. Johnson is reflecting the 'unofficial' position of republicans by voting for the support to Ukraine; iow, he's taking the heat for the republicans who want to remain silent until after the election.
