Not to mention charging all those mandated EVs

In my area they are upgrading the electrical system that serves the suburbs. I'm friends with a guy that works at the local substation.

He said these upgrades should have been made 20 years ago but the bureaucracy kept delaying things.

“So - are these the 20-year old plans now?”

“No - but maybe 5 years old now.”

“But that was before all the EV’s, and just now the new state (Washington) mandates to eventually get rid of gas heat and gas cars, how is it going to handle that?”

“It's all computerized and we can vary the loads by sections and times to manage the electricity.”

He said it in more technical terms - but that is what I understood it to mean.

I didn't push the point, but in my mind I'm thinking that sounds like rolling brown outs. Maybe just like some years we can only water the lawn on odd days, cooking and laundry days will have to alternate. And those new “smart meters” can regulate it at the house.

Now aren't you glad that you had those "new and improved" meters that they call "Smart Meters" installed ?
Now, with a flick of a switch from central command, they can turn your power 'off" remotely
because you already used up your rationed allotment !
There is no method of appeal, postponement, or allowed excuse, ..except if your "social credit score" meets their criteria.
