The problem is that they are doing it with imported machinery.
Weber Metals in S. Cal just installed a 60,000 ton forging press for aerospace applications. That’s the biggest press built in decades. But the manufacturer was SMS GmbH of Germany.
The other big presses were built during the US Air Force “Heavy Press” program of the 1950’s.

The problem, EVERY manufacturer who made those presses has gone out of business.
If the government really saw China as a threat, wouldn’t they be moving heaven and earth to secure our borders and reshoring our manufacturing base instead of relying on our enemy to supply us?
