The early question is why did Trump and Fauci talk about Dr. Zelenko’s March 23rd, 2020 letter to doctors describing a low cost, 3 part treatment for early Covid for only a week or two. At first HCQ, zinc, and Azithromycin were all mentioned. Then the word and virus stopper ZINC was completely dropped for the news interviews. The cc of his letter was to both Trump and Mark Meadows, but I question now if Trump ever even read this short letter. Certainly Fauci with his love of the drug industry could have cut ZINC out of the conversation, but did Meadows also have a hand in this?
At any rate by around May 11th, Fauci was officially announcing that a study of the effectiveness of HCQ and Azithromycin would be run on hospitalized patient (they may have been hospitalized veterans?). In his announcement Fauci said it was important to find low cost available treatments for this threat. So he ignored Dr. Zelenko’s statement that ZINC was the virus stopper, and HCQ helped the zinc get into infected cells. He also ignored that it was important to do this very early before the attack on the lungs occurred. A study designed to fail.
Not long after, Fauci was proud to announce that the marvelous drug Remdesivir was ready to roll, and it would only cost about $3,000 of taxpayer money for a treatment course. It is an interesting fact that the producer of Remdesivir (Gilead Sciences) was currently being threatened with a class action lawsuit for waiting 10 years to inform AIDs patient that an original class of drugs like Truvada had caused dangerous side effects. Gilead had been waiting ten years to tell AIDs patients that they had an improved version of these drugs, but of course they needed to wait until they had sold all the more harmful ones. I saw many TV ads urging AIDs patients who had experienced bad effects from the older drugs to call and take part in the class action for this unethical and illegal? behavior.
If you want to start a class action lawsuit for families of the half million or more families whose loved ones died in Covid’s first year in the USA, these are basic facts to start with and certainly good questions for any COngressional hearings on this topic.
In addition to the fact, IIRC, that the studies were done in the second phase of the illness when viral replication was over with anyways and the patient had already entered the inflammatory stage, at which point other treatments were the necessary option.
