The only evidence I saw was he was a UDT. Which at the time of his service was a completely different MOS from the SEALS. Similar, but not the same. The MOS wasn’t combined until the early 80’s.

They combined in 1983 but years ago when I did a deep dive into this with Navy sources it was retroactive.

They all wear the same Trident now.

Although I was sure in the distant past when I posted on this issue here, I can’t find my early sources (at least not tonight) and Ventura is so unpopular in that community that searching the internet isn’t conclusive or easy with the non-official sources, so......

By the way, I used to go that bar in Coronado and did some arm wrestling in there with the guys along with some fun times.
