There is not one shred of difference, actually. Putin and Russian chauvinists of his ilk believe Ukraine to be part of Russia and Ukrainians to just be “bad” Russians. They are willing to mass murder and genocidally erase Ukraine to make that so. Either Ukraine survives as nation outside the filthy Russian World or it doesn’t. There is no door number three here.
And how do you negotiate a peace with someone who is calling for your unconditional surrender?
