Not so. The main wave of ‘New Commonwealth ‘ migration was in the 1960s/70s, initiated by Conservative governments to meet postwar Labour shortages. Most of those now prominent in British national life are 2nd or 3rd generation of that wave. What happened in the Blair years was simply a temporarily increased rate.
