How can a fight over the RNC be compared to a bitter public fight over the Speakership? It certainly won’t help Trump. Though I have a feeling you would be happy with that result...

Because you wouldn't want either in an election year, but arguably changing the RNC is much more risky during an election year. Trump did it simply to assert control over the finances, and Laura Trump has admitted as much, saying "every last penny" will go to re-elect Trump now.

The fight over Speakership is over principle, however, and our ability to stand up to Democrats over funding the border. This fight goes back to Trump, who failed to get it done. Now it just looks like complete capitulation, and will probably hurt turnout for those who want the border closed but are disillusioned at this point.

This is the perfect time to fight. We saw Trump and Johnson standing side by side just a few days ago. Now a huge white flag is waving.
